'CMT Empowering Education' campaign to partner with Eastern

MOOREFIELD, W.Va. — According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 5.8 millions jobs remain unfilled in the United States, and for many that is due to a lack of skilled applicants. Cable network CMT is teaming up with Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College to encourage area residents to go back to school as part of the CMT Empowering Education initiative. The campaign highlights the important role community colleges play in providing affordable, relevant education and training aligned with the workforce needs in rural America.

“Although the number of available jobs is on the rise nationally, many go unfilled due to the lack of applicants with the necessary skills or credentials. Rural areas are among those which struggle the most,” said Lucia Folk, vice president of public affairs for CMT. “Through this initiative, we’re working in smaller communities to highlight the available tools and resources to earn degrees and certificates. In less than two years we’ve nearly doubled our reach, but there’s still much more to do.”
