5 things you need to know about the TalkTalk cyberattack - Mashable

LONDON — TalkTalk, which provides mobile phone, broadband Internet and pay television services, has said private data from its 4 million British customers may have been compromised in a "significant and sustained" cyberattack on its website.

On Friday afternoon the company said it had received a ransom note by those purporting to be behind the attack. It's not yet known whether customers' information was encrypted or not.
