The nearly 500,000 Kelao (also known as the Gelo) are an agricultural mountain people who live scattered across the Western Guizhou Province of south central China. In ancient times they were known as the "Liao," and were one of the largest tribes in the area. They called their territory the "Yelang Kingdom."
