Sergio Leonel Aguero is one of the best all-out center forwards, who became the youngest player to debut in the Argentine Primer Division at 15 years and 35 days on July 05, 2003. Here are some facts about Argentine professional footballer:

  1. He is even better known as the son-in-law of most famous Argentine football legend Diego Maradona. He was married to his youngest daughter, Gianinna Maradona.
  2. He is nicknamed ‘Kun’ by his grandparents identifying him to his favorite Japanese cartoon character ‘Kum-Kum.’
  3. He was born Sergio Leonel Aguero, on June 02, 1988, in Quilmes, Buenos Aires, Argentina, to Adriana Aguero, a housewife and Leonel del Castillo, a taxi driver.
  4. He is the second of seven children to his parents. He has two brothers and four sisters. He was forced to take the surname of his mother ‘Aguero’ as his parents were minors at the time of his birth.
  5. Aguero honed his skill in the five-a-side tourneys playing in the junior system of several clubs, such as, Loma Alegre, 1 de Mayo, 20 de Junio, Pallerano Rojo, Bristol and Los Primos.
  6. As a nine year old he joined the youth team of Independiente and progressed to its senior side in 2003. He was the youngest player to make his debut in the Argentine Primer Division as well as in the ‘Copa Libertadores,’ and scored his first goal for the club on November 26, 2004.
  7. He donned the Argentina team’s jersey for the first time for the Argentina, U-17 teamand in 2005 he was selected for the 2005 FIFA U-20 World Cup. The final match against Nigeria was decided by penalty awarded to Aguero and was scored by Lionel Messi.
  8. On May 30, 2006, Aguero, signed a most expensive contract in the history of Argentina football with Atletico Madrid worth € 20 million, days before his 18 birthday. He had scored 23 goals in 56 appearances for Independiente.
  9. He registered his name in the Spanish League with his first goal for Madrid against Athletic Bilbao in a 4-1 win on September 17, 2006. He ended the season with seven goals.
  10. Aguero made his senior team debut as an 18 year old in a friendly against Brazil and scored his first international goal against Bolivia during 2010 World Cup qualification match.
  11. At the age of 19, he took the mantle of main striker for his club and justified it by finishing the 2007-08 season as the third highest scorer with 19 goals and in the process Atletico Madrid qualified for the UEFA Championship for the first time in ten years.
  12. Aguero captained the national U-20 team to the title of 2007 FIFA Under-20 World Cup Champion held in Canada. He was awarded the Golden Boot for his six goals in seven outings and the Golden Ball for being the best player of the tournament.
  13. He finished in the top ten goal scorer for the Pichichi Trophy with 17 goals and 9 assists in the 2008-09, season of La Liga. He along with Diego Forlan took the club to its successive Champions League.
  14. He helped his club to win the Europa League title and the Europa Super Cup. He scored all-important goal apart from opening goal assists for the Super Cup title and had a hand in both the goals for the League title.
  15. On January 04, 2011, Aguero signed a contract extension keeping him with Atletico Madrid until 2014. He was also elevated as the team’s vice-captain.
  16. Within six month of his contract extension with Madrid, he sought for transfer and was sold to Manchester City for € 45 million on July 27, 2011, then a record fee for an English team.
  17. His debut match for the City on August 15, 2011, was reviewed as one of the best in English football. His 30 minutes action as substitute saw two goals and an assists for David Silva to round-up rout of Swansea City for a 4-0 win.
  18. On May 04, 2012, He was named Manchester City Player of the Year and his goal in a win against Norwich was voted as the club’s goal of the season. He ended the inaugural season with 30 goals in 48 appearances.
  19. On May 13, 2012, Aguero’s last minute goal during injury time sealed the Premier League title once more for Manchester City after 44 years.City won the league title on goal difference.
  20. On April 14, 2013, he was in the receiving end of public disagreement when he made a two-footed tackle on David Luiz in a game against Chelsea. Although he apologized to Luiz later he escaped being punished under current FA rules.
  21. On May 25, 2013, all speculation of his move to Real Madrid was put to rest when signed a one-year contract extension which will keep him until 2017.
  22. He was considered most potent striker in the history of Primer League, in term of minute per goal. With his two goals in a 6-0 rout of Tottenham Hotspur he over took Thierry Henry as the player with highest goals per minutes ratio with 45 goals in 5379 minutes making it a goal in every 119.5 minutes.
  23. On December 02, 2014, he was a big winner when judged as the ‘Football Supporters’ Federation Award’ in association with William Hill as Player of the Year. He held off competition from Eden Hazard, BranislavIvanovic, Morgan Schneiderlin, Raheem Sterling and Yaya Toure.
  24. On May 24, 2015, Aguero secured the Premier League’s Golden Bootaward with 26 goals after finishing five goals clear of his nearest rival.
  25. A Good Samaritan in Aguero was very much evident when he halted play during a game against Everton on August 23, 2015to help a fan was in distress. He was thanked applauded for his gesture.
  26. In space of 20 minutes he became part of Premier League history with his fastest five goals in 6-1 win over Newcastle at Etihad Stadium on October 03, 2015. He joined Andy Cole, Alan Shearer, Jermain Defoe and Dimitar Berbatov as the one of the five players with this feat.
  27. He was found guilty of violent conduct after the game against West Ham on August 28, 2016 and was given three-match ban. Aguero’s swinging arm struck opponent Winston Reid in the throat and Reid lost his voice and had to be substituted. His aggressive nature earned him another four-match suspension when tackled David Luiz in a game against Chelsea in December.
  28. On November 01, 2017, he over took the club record of 177 goals by Eric Brook with a goal in a 4-2 win over Napoli in the Champions League. He has to his credit 179 goals in 265 appearances for his club till date.
  29. He has published his autobiography, Born to Rise, in 2014, with a foreword written by Lionel Messi, his best friend and his roommate during national duties.
  30. Aguero has scored 303 goals in all in 555 appearances for his clubs at Independiente, Atletico Madrid and Manchester City apart from 36 goals from 84 matches for National team.
