Jesse Tyler Ferguson, world renowned for the portrayal of Mitchell Pritchett on the most popular sitcom "Modern Family," initially started his career mainly in Off-Broadway and Broadway theatre. Here are some really interesting things to know about the American actor and comedian:

  1.  He was named as the celebrity ambassador for the LGBT community by the American Civil Liberties Union in October 2013.
  2.  He co-founded the non-profit charity "Tie The Knot," which aims to raise funds in support of same-sex marriage, using bow ties sold to retail, along with his lawyer husband, Justin Mikita, in September 2012.
