Virat Kohli, regarded as one of the best batsmen in the world, currently captains the India national team, has constantly been ranked as one of the most influential people in the world, as well as one of the world's most famous athletes.   1.  Kohli won the prestigious Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for being named the World Cricketer of the Year 2017. Apart from the award, he was also named ICC ODI cricketer of the Year and named the captain of both ICC Test and ODI team.

  11.  His first international century was against Sri Lanka when he scored 107 of 111 balls to record highest successful run chase at Eden Gardens. Gautam Gambhir who earned the man of the match award gifted it to Kohli for his fine performance.
  12.  Despite his indifferent form in 2010, he became the leading run getter in ODIs with 995 runs in 25 matches and also had the distinction of being the fastest Indian batsman to reach 1,000 runs in ODI cricket.
  13.  He became the first Indian to score a century on his World Cup debut match when he remained unbeaten on 100 in the match against Bangladesh during 2011 World Cup.
  14.  His 83 runs partnership with Gambhir for the third wicket paved the way for India to win the World Cup title and in the process he became the only Indian to win the Under-19 and senior World cup titles.
  15.  Kohli made his test debut on June 20, 2011, during the West Indies tour, where he succumbed to bowling ofFidel Edwards with highest score of 30 in six innings.
  16.  He ended the year 2011, as the leading run getter in the world cricket in ODIformat with 1381 runs in 34 innings which includes 4 centuries and 8 fifties, averaging 47.62 runs.
  17.  Kohli scored his maiden test century during the Indian tour of Australia, in the fourth and final match of the series. He scored 116 runs of 213 balls in first innings for a losing cause. He was the lone bright spot amidst nightmare visits for the Indians.
  18.  Chasing a score of 321 runs set by Sri Lanka in the Commonwealth Bank triangular series, Kohli smashed 133 not out in 86 balls to reach the target with 13 overs to spare. His innings was rated as one of the greatest ODI knock of all time.
  19.  On being appointed the vice-captain for the 2012 Asia Cup held in Bangladesh, he justified it by scoring 357 runs, as the leading run getter in the tournament. He scored two centuries including 183 of 148 balls against Pakistan, to record the highest individual score in Asia Cup and highest individual score by a player against Pakistan in ODIs.
  20.  Kohli captained India for the first time by default when M.S Dhoni injured himself during first ODI of the Triangular Series in the West Indies in 2013. He scored his first century as captain, making 102 of 83 balls in the second game of the series.
  21.  He scored the fastest century by an Indian in one-day international surpassing Virender Sehwag’s four year old record in the second one-dayers against Australia on October 16, 2013. He scored 100 of 52 balls also the fastest hundred against Australia.

  28.  His tally of 2818 runs in all international formats in 2017 is the third-most for a batsman in a year. He averaged 68.73, with 11 centuries.
  29.  On December 11, 2017, he married Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, in a private ceremony in Florence, Italy.
