Kasabian, with six six studio albums released till date, has a number of accolades to their name, and are also often noted for their live performances. The original line-up of the band consists of vocalist Tom Meighan, guitarist and vocalist Sergio Pizzorno, guitarist Chris Karloff, bassist Chris Edwards and drummer Ian Matthews. However, the guitarist Chris Karloff left the group in the year 2006. Here are some really interesting facts about the British rock band:

  1.  The band received a total of 9 award nominations for their album "48:13" at the NME Awards in the year 2015, beating the record held by Oasis band for a total of 7 nominations in the year 2009.
  2.  Kasabian music is often described by many as "indie rock," but on the contrary, Sergio claims to hate indie bands and has never felt the band to fit into that particular category.
  3.  They have been awarded with the "Q Awards for "Best Act in the World Today" in the year 2010 and 2014. They were also named as the "Best Live Act" at the 2014 Q Awards as well as the 2007 and 2018 NME Awards.
  4.  The band's guitarist Sergio uses a 1953 Hofner guitar to do all his song writing and even claims that it’s like an “old pirate ship”.
  5.  It was reported that the band, in their initial days, were known by the Saracuse, before becoming famous as Kasabian. They chose the name Kasabian, after Linda Kasabian, a member of the Charles Manson cult.
  6.  The band's first public appearance was at the Vipers Rugby Club to celebrate Edwards’ 18th birthday with family and friends.
  7.  Kasabian's eponymous debut album, which was released on September 13, 2004, was met with generally positive reviews, and even gave the band a good sales record.
  8.  For the recording of their debut self-titled album, the band members reportedly stayed in a farmhouse near Rutland Water, in an effort to avoid being disturbed.

  10.  The band claimed in an interview with T4 that each track in the said album is meant to be a representation of an inmate within the asylum.
  11.  The band's most popular single "Underdog" from their third album "West Riding Pauper Lunatic Asylum," has been used by Sony in a commercial for their BRAVIA Televisions.
  12.  The first single "Fire" from the same album, released on June 1, 2009, was used as the theme song for the English Premier League from the 2010–11 season onward.
  13.  It was during the tour of their first album, that the Kasabian recruited the drummers Ian Matthews as a permanent member in April 2005, after meeting him while recording in Bristol.
  14.  Matthews reportedly plays on "Processed Beats", "Butcher Blues", "Beneficial Herbs" and some other songs on the debut album.
  15.  The band's guitarist and one of the chief songwriter Karloff left the band during the recording of the second album "Empire," although the band claims that he was asked to leave the band due to "artistic and creative differences."

  30.  In an effort to celebrate the victory in Premier League in the year 2016, the band played two concerts at Leicester City Football Club's ground, the King Power Stadium, where they played a new song "Put Your Life On It", dedicated to the city.
