Dwight Howard, currently playing for the Washington Wizards of the National Basketball Association (NBA), is an eight-time All-Star, eight-time All-NBA Team honoree, five-time All-Defensive Team member, and three-time Defensive Player of the Year. Here are some really interesting things to know about the American professional basketball player:
- He was born Dwight David Howard on December 08, 1985, in Atlanta, Georgia, to Sheryl and Dwight Howard Sr. Apart from his brother Jahaziel Howard and a sister Ta Shanda Howard his mother had seven miscarriages before he was born. He was called the miracle child.
- His father is a Georgia State Trooper and serves as Athletic Director of Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy and his mother played on the inaugural women’s basketball team at Morris Brown College.
- Howard spent his childhood years in the small town of Swainsboro, before moving to Atlanta and enrolled at Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy as a seventh grader in 1998. He became serious about basketball around the age of nine.
