- He was born Jonathan Clay ‘JJ’ Redick, on June 24, 1984, in Cookeville, Tennessee, U.S.A. He is one of five children to Jeanie and Ken Redick.
- He has twin older sisters, Catie and Alyssa, a younger brother, David, and a younger sister, Abigail. His father played basketball for two seasons at Ohio Wesleyan University and all his siblings have played University level basketball in their time.
