TikTok is an app that lets you share videos. It grew in popularity last year, and it is changing the way people of today look at comedy, music, and dance. If you have been nodding when someone mentions TikTok since you don't know what it is and you're only pretending to know, then you should not worry. Here are some things you need to know about TikTok.

What is TikTok?

TikTok is an app for modern smartphones that have cameras. It began as an app called Musically, which let kids mime the lyrics of any song they wanted. ByteDance is a Chinese website where you share videos. They bought Musically and merged it with their version, Douyin, and they called it TikTok. Today, TikTok is one of the most downloaded free apps of recent years.

Lip-syncing Roots of TikTok

Lip-syncing is a trend that has become popular in recent years. But users don't use the app for lip-syncing to music most of the time. Nowadays, TikTok users focus on creating viral prank videos, comedy skits, and dance routines. The app lets you add filters onto the videos, and you can create diverse effects that can show how imaginative people can be, even if the app isn't that limitless.

TikTok's Younger Demographic

The target demographic of the app is younger people, unlike other video sharing platforms. The app is a fantastic method of letting people express themselves creatively. Most of the popular video creators on TikTok aren't even past the age of 20 yet, and they have almost fifty million followers.

Famous Instagram users aren't as popular as most famous TikTok users. If you ask anyone young if they know about TikTok, they will know about it and might even show you their favorite videos.

Can TikTok Be Used for Practical Reasons?

TikTok can be useful for many reasons. Some video creators on TikTok have made videos of scripted conversations that you can play out loud if you ever feel endangered or unsafe in a taxi or any public transportation.

It is easy to share videos on TikTok, and users can see them with no hassle, so doctors have used it to inform TikTok users about what they need to know about the coronavirus.

Using TikTok while Under Home Quarantine

While every country is placing everyone under quarantine and places are on lockdown, there isn't much you can do except stay at home. TikTok is a great way to pass the time while you're bored and not doing anything.

It's as easy as picking a song or audio track; then, you record yourself acting or dancing to it. You don't have to be good at acting, singing, or dancing. If you can show it off well enough, people will like it.

There are even some people that show off their different skills on TikTok, such as drawing or flipping bottles. People also show off their pets doing funny things.

You can use TikTok for anything you can think of, so don't hesitate in getting it and using it in your free time. Fortunately, being under home quarantine gives you plenty of free time.
