According to survey results
In statistical data survey that food experts have conducted in America, where they surveyed 2,000 American adults in different states in the country including New York, Hawaii, Florida, and California, many of these bizarre foods also included cookies dipped in guacamole and peanut butter and mayo sandwiches are also some of their favorite bizarre food partners.
The purpose of the survey conducted was to find out how many common unusual food combinations do Americans have and what are the rarest and weirdest food combination they have come to love. The characteristics of these foods will also be revealed and answers as to why such food combinations exist, just like roasted bell peppers and octopus, mayo and meatballs, and alligator and fries.
According to SPAM's survey
A survey conducted by OnePoll and the SPAM brand showed that most respondents got their favorite weird food combinations from their family and friends. For this item, it showed a good 41% in the survey and is considered to be the biggest factor as to why Americans come up with their favorite bizarre food combinations.
The survey also showed that 36% of the Americans who have bizarre food combinations is because they found and tried it first from restaurants. 33% of the survey resulted from seeing these food combinations from social media, magazines, newspapers, and online news, 32% of them got their food favorites from other people (word of mouth), and 25% of them got it from their favorite celebrities in endorsements and advertisements.
According to the survey, there were food combinations who were a bit unique and might sound new and exquisite to others. However, there are also classic American favorites that a lot of people from different countries have also come to love, such as pairing french fries in chocolate milkshake.
Next to that were some familiar and popular combinations such as popcorn and chocolate, which got 44% in the total survey, and sour cream onion chips with chocolate, which garnered 36% in the survey.
Some respondents also revealed that they can't eat a meal without putting hot sauce in their food (26%) and can't eat their meals without mayonnaise in it (27%). Aside from hot sauce and mayo, other respondents also can't have a meal without a salt shaker on their table (28%)
In the survey conducted by SPAM, they also asked the respondents what are their crazy food combination favorites, and these are the frequent and common answers they got from them:
