Shawn Peter Raul Mendes is now more like a household name, when he became an overnight megastar at a very young age and that too with just a simple six-second Vine video. Since then, the singer has been making headlines with his remarkable albums, having heads bob to his tunes. One of the five artists to ever to debut at number one in the US Billboard 200 chart, before the age of 18, Mendes has 13 SOCAN awards, 10 MTV Europe Music Awards, eight Juno Awards, eight iHeartRadio MMVAs, two American Music Awards, along with three Grammy nominations to his name. What’s more is that, the singer seems to have just started his career. Here are some interesting facts about the singer that will make fans love him even more:

  1.  In collaboration with DoSomething.org, he launched the campaign “Notes from Shawn” for three consecutive years, through which he encouraged his fans to leave positive notes in unexpected places, in an effort to address self-esteem, depression and awareness of self-harm.
  2.  For the third year, he even partnered with BlendApp, to raise up to $25,000, by raising $1 for every signup and every positive message shared on the application.
  3.  It was Andrew Watt who sent the rough chorus of the song “Señorita” to Mendes, suggesting it to be recorded as a duet, to which Mendes immediately agreed. Mendes even suggested Camila Cabello to be “the only person” with whom he could sing the duet.
  4.  Both the singers worked on the lyrics of the song through FaceTime, until their meeting just a few weeks before the song was released.
  5.  He became the ambassador for Emporio Armani's entire "Fall Winter 2018-2019" watch collection on June 6, 2018. The next month, promotional images of Mendes wearing the new smartwatch EA Connected, went online.
  6.  Prior to this, he wore the new smartwatch while walking the runway during the "Emporio Armani Spring 2018" show held in Milan, Italy in June 2017.

  11.  He created the Mexico Earthquake Relief Fund in September 2017, following the devastation of the earthquake in Mexico City, in collaboration with the American Red Cross. He made a donation of $100,000 towards the relief efforts of the earthquake.
  12.  Mendes became the brand ambassador for Calvin Klein's #MyCalvins campaign on February 16, 2019. In August the same year, he partnered with Tim Hortons, the Canadian-based food chain, and was featured in a commercial on beverage cups.
