Carson Wentz, currently playing as the quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL), has till date set numerous NFL records, and broken a few too. While he did take a step back in 2020, finishing the season with a career low 57.44 completion percentage, Wentz comeback is something that fans are eagerly waiting for. As, be it an ACL surgery or a concussion or wrist injury, nothing has ever stopped Wentz from getting into the field and making his mark again and again. Here are some interesting facts about him that will make you love him more:

  1.  Wentz is the first quarterback in the history of National Football League to throw for more than 4,000 yards without any receiver over 500 yards.
  2.  His 4,039 yards in the 2019 game is still now the most in a single season in the NFL history. He is also the first quarterback in the history of Philadelphia Eagles to throw for over 4,000 yards.
  3.  He is also the first quarterback in NFL history to throw for 20 or more TDs and 7 or less INT in 3 consecutive seasons.
  4.  Wentz launched the AO1 Foundation - Audience of One Foundation, which focuses on motivating and supporting individuals and communities from all over the world with the demonstration of God’s love for His people.
  5.  He primarily founded the organization for underprivileged youth, the physically disabled and military veterans, in an effort to get them involved in various hobbies.
  6.  The first annual AO1 Foundation Charity Softball Game was held at Citizens Bank Park in June 2018. He raised over $850,000 from the game, with over 25,000+ fans attending the event.
  7.  Carson James Wentz was born on December 30, 1992 to Doug Wentz and Cathy Domres in Raliegh North Carolina. But, he moved with his family to North Dakota, at the age of three.
  8.  He has been playing as a quarterback since his high school days, when he played quarterback and defensive back for the Century High School football team in Bismarck.
  9.  He initially started as the backup quarterback to Brock Jenson, in the year 2012, and completed all of his passes for 93 yards.
  10.  Wentz hit a major growth sprout in high school, growing an impressive nine inches from 5’8” to 6’5”, between his freshman and senior years.

  12.  In the year 2015, while playing for the University of North Dakota, he led the team into a 15-1 record. During his graduation, he was awarded the CoSIDA Academic All-American of the year for division 1 football.
  13.  Just as NFL draft predictions were underway, he surpassed all the predictions, emerging among the top 10 prospects, as the 2nd overall selection of the Philadelphia Eagles.
  14.  Wentz is the first quarterback the Eagles has selected in the very first round of an NFL draft, since Donovan McNabb in the year 1999.
  15.  In his rookie season, he became the first rookie quarterback to win his first two games of the season without throwing an interception, since the year 1970.
  16.  In fact, Wentz threw for league-record 379 completions by a rookie, and broke his former teammate Sam Bradford’s record of 354. He also broke Bradford’s another single season franchise record of 346 completions from the previous season.
  17.  In collaboration with the Mission of Hope Haiti, Wentz became involved in a project to build a sports complex in the country in the year 2018.
  18.  Through his Audience of One Foundation, he granted funds to complete the Phase I of the project – a multipurpose building with locker rooms, showers, bathrooms, two basketball courts and a sport court. The Phase I of the project is reportedly nearing completion.
  19.  Phase II – addition of turf fields, adjacent to the multipurpose building, is expected to start shortly. With the partnership, his foundation will continue in maintaining and running the Haiti Sports Complex, including funds.
  20.  Within the first half in his game against South Dakota, during his time with the North Dakota State Bison football team, he suffered a broken wrist, but still managed to complete the game with 16-of-28 completions.
  21.  In fact, just as he was selected for the Philadelphia Eagles, he suffered a rib injury in the first preseason game, but recovered to full health, before the regular season began, and was named the starter for the game against Cleveland Browns.

  23.  He announced his engagement with his longtime girlfriend Madison Oberg, after winning Super Bowl LII in February 2018. The couple got married after a six months period.
  24.  The duo tied the knot on July 16, 2018, in a private ceremony in Bucks County. Wentz and Madison welcomed their daughter Hadley Jayne Wentz in April 2020. The family currently resides in Mullica Hill in Southern New Jersey.
  25.  Hunting is one of Wentz’s main hobbies and is known to frequently visit his home town in North Dakota, for hunting, during the offseason.
  26.  Through his Audience of One Foundation, Wentz has created Outdoor Ministry, with the aim to serve those with physical challenges and life-threatening illnesses.
  27.  With Wentz’s belief that sporting gives valuable lessons, the project focuses on helping the individuals foster genuine passion for outdoor activities, by providing various hunting and fishing experiences through Camp Conquerors.
  28.  He is a close friend of the famous Major League Baseball player Mike Trout, since his initial days in the NFL career. On January 1, 2017, Wentz gifted Trout with a ball, after a touchdown in a win against the Dallas Cowboys.
  29.  In December 2017, he was selected to his first Pro Bowl, but he was not able to participate as he had just undergone the ACL surgery.
  30.  Even during the 2018 season, Eagles decided to pull him out for the season, near the end, replacing him with Nick Foles, in order for him to recuperate from his back injury, and avoid further injuries.
  31.  During the NFC Wild Card game against the Seattle Seahawks in the 2019 season, he had to leave the game after just nine snaps, after suffering a head injury when defensive end Jadeveon Clowney made a helmet to helmet hit on him.
  32.  Wentz was benched in the third quarter of the 2020 season, with Eagles naming Jalen Hurts as the starting quarterback for their Week 14 game. Despite having played only 12 games, Wentz leaded the league in the categories - interceptions thrown (15), total turnovers (19), and sacks taken (50), while scoring 21 total touchdowns (16 passing, 5 rushing).
