4 Life Hacks to Improve Your Daily Life
What is a life hack exactly? Is it just a solution to an everyday problem? Or is it something more than that? Does it even have to be a basic problem? Or can it be something that is much more traumatic? It might just be all of the above.
Life hacks are creative answers to things we often don't think have any for. Think about how annoying it is when you get into a car accident and you don't know how to find out if someone has auto insurance coverage.
We'll talk about four of the best life hacks that will help nearly everyone at one time or another. This is regardless of the size of the problem at hand. These tricks will leave you shaking your head at why you never thought of them first.
#1 - Putting on a Pillowcase
Making a bed is one of the trickier things to learn how to do effectively. If you sleep in a larger-sized bed, it can almost be impossible to put the sheets on without a second person there to help hold the ends.
But we don't want to be there all day. It's obvious that there are a lot of elements that go into making a bed, but let's give a tip anybody can handle. It's about putting on your pillowcase. This is a fairly easy thing to do, but not simple to perform well. You usually end up with pockets of open space in the corner of the pillowcase.
How do you avoid that? Turn the case inside out. Put your hands inside the case when you turn it, and grab the corners of the sheet. Have someone hold the pillow for you. Take the sheet's corners and pinch them on the corners of the pillow. Have the other person stretch the case down over the pillow now.
Easy as can be, right? You no longer will have any open air in those dreaded corners.
And if you want to opt for a non-traditional pillow, you can always buy a neck roll pillow or bring a couch pillow out from the living room.
#2 - Making a Great PBJ
Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are one of the classic lunch or snack items in America. You'd think it was so simple to make that anyone could do it, right?
This isn't completely true. There are definitely some cool hacks to make a better PBJ, and this one comes courtesy of legendary football coach Bill Belichick, who is usually known for being Tom Brady's mentor for the New England Patriots.
To prevent the jelly from leaking out or getting the bread soggy, you should always put a small layer of peanut butter on each side of the sandwich. Many people might disagree with this tip if they don't want the peanut butter to be overwhelming.
The way to solve this is to put a thinner layer on each side of the sandwich than you would if you were applying it to just one side.
You could also use a thicker jelly that has less liquid in it, preferably a jam or some preserves. These have more fruit and less juice in them, also aiding the peanut butter on both sides of the bread. When you clock out for lunch at your job, you want a good sandwich and you deserve it.
#3 - Identifying if Someone Has Insurance
When there is an accident on the road, the first thing you do is exchange insurance companies with the other driver. If the person doesn't provide their auto insurance, what do you do? It can be worrisome because you want to make sure you get your vehicle fixed. While they might be an uninsured driver, they also may just not want to tell their insurance they got into an accident.
It shouldn't be as stressful as it may seem, though. You can tell the police on the scene that there is no auto insurance being provided by the other person. You can also get the person's license plate number and bring it to the DMV. They will likely wonder why you need that information, but just explain that it wasn't given to you after an accident.
The DMV can then run the information and find the insurance of the other person when they check their registration. If they don't have any insurance, you will then have to ask your own insurance company for help amending the situation.
They will demand the other person give them cash out of pocket. They will also try to pay for the damage on their car themselves, especially if it is minor. Simply playing a little detective role play by tracking down the information through other sources is an overlooked and effective solution to this problem.
#4 - Eliminating Odors From the Fridge or Freezer
It becomes a problem across time when you put so many different things in your refrigerator. Between seafood, steaks, and leftover cheese, the inside is going to start smelling a little funky.
One of the best ways to eliminate this issue is to put a carton of baking soda inside the fridge. This natural ingredient has always been famous for sucking up bad smells, but it is usually associated with smelly shoes or gym clothes. Putting it here is just as effective, and they even sell boxes specifically for the fridge or freezer.
Just open the box and leave it in the fridge for the time specified in the directions on the back of the product. Don't overdo or the soda could become soggy and leave a small mess on the shelf you set it on.
Hopefully, these life hacks have given you a little bit of relief from the stresses, both big and small, that appear in our daily lives. If you think you are frustrated with similar future endeavors, try to be creative and spring an idea out from what we've discussed here.
Anyone can come up with their own life hacks with a little bit of creativity and patience.
