Rory McIlroy might lose No. 1 at the BMW, but longer view favors him - ESPN

LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Nobody is going to forget about Rory McIlroy anytime soon, as strange as it might seem to speak of the No. 1-ranked golfer in the world in such terms.

But he's clearly taken on a supporting role of late, his top spot in the world more about mathematical permutations than the best golf. He's teetering on giving up the position again this week at the BMW Championship, where Jason Day's tear continues.
