Montrose Seeks Property Easements for Water Project

The city of Montrose is in the process of securing funding and obtaining easement agreements to connect its water system to the Boydell water plant. The project stems back to 2009 when it was initiated under the tenure of the late Montrose Mayor Larry Coulter.

Vicki Mixon, city recorder/treasurer, said once the two water systems are connected, it will benefit three cities. It will guarantee that Boydell and Jerome have a continual water source as well as provide Montrose with an alternate water supply. Montrose is currently purchasing water from the city of Portland. Carlton explained Montrose has a contract with Portland that requires the city to purchase 25 percent of its water from Portland which is between $1,200 to $1,700 monthly.
