He was a native of Chicago, Ill., but a resident of Hamburg for 38 years. He was an employee of Barnes Lumber Company and was a member of Soldiers Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Samuel Lawrence and Evelyn Gray Arnold; and two brothers, James and Lawrence Arnold.
