Letter to the Editor: Rendering plant

Again, not living in Russellville, I don't really have a dog in this fight, but I would just like to make a couple of observations for folks to think about. This plant and its even worse odors were there long before the city grew to the size that it was, hence folks knew it was there before they built. It was originally built back in the 50s to serve the newly burgeoning poultry industry, which over the years, evolved into Tyson.

Tyson eventually built their own out at Morrison's bluff, in the middle of nowhere and it seems that's when trouble really started here. ConAgra — PPP — bought the plant with a facility no closer than Clinton or El Dorado. Those were eventually closed and Pilgrims Pride got it.
