Students struggle on new state test
The California Department of Education last week released results of the new California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) test, which produced low scores at Inland Empire schools, including Fontana Unified School District campuses.
According to State Superintendent Tom Torlakson, CAASPP gauges studentsâ progress in learning new, more rigorous academic standards designed to prepare them for college and careers in the 21st century; however, the results exposed a sad truth -- students in California need to improve in English and math.
