Court Upholds Mena Woman’s Conviction, Life Sentence In Stabbing

LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the first-degree murder conviction and life sentence of a woman who stabbed an 80-year-old Mena man to death when she was a teenager.

Cheyenne Fink, now 20, did not deny killing Loyd Cole on Dec. 3, 2012, but she argued on appeal that she should not have been found guilty of first-degree murder because she suffered from a mental disease or defect that prevented her from conforming her conduct to the rule of law.
