Water On Comets Is Linked To Sunlight Cycle - Times Gazette

The discovery of water in a cosmic object is of essence. It gives scientists a hint if there are possible life forms developed in it. Now, observations show that outbursts of water vapor from comet’s surface are tied to illumination of the sun.

Data from European Space Agency’s Rosetta spacecraft revealed that Comet 67P’s ice surface appears and disappears based on the daily cycle of the sun. The Rosetta spacecraft has been monitoring the comet since August 2014.
