Pirates can't close gap on Cardinals in 3-0 loss - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

The Pirates lacked the big hit Monday night, but they allowed one, and they made a big error as well.

The St. Louis Cardinals scored three runs in the ninth inning and beat the Pirates, 3-0, at PNC Park, reducing the Cardinals’ magic number to two. If St. Louis wins one of the next two games against the Pirates, the Cardinals clinch the National League Central Division title and cement the Pirates’ spot in the wild-card game against Jake Arrieta and the Chicago Cubs.
