Bekaert Rolls Out Wire For The World

Miles of wire for anything from steel-belted tires and solar panels to fences and bridges, notebooks and power lines, highway cable barriers and insulin injectors can be found in the making at Bekaert in Van Buren.

As part of the Fort Smith Regional Chamber of Commerce’s weeklong celebration of National Manufacturing Day this Friday, Bekaert opened its doors to a limited public Wednesday for a nearly two-hour tour of the 800,000-square-foot facility, where 470 team members move 135,000 metric tons of steel a year that is turned and twisted into a number of different products on demand from a variety of clients.
