Ward 1 candidate John Lay: Strengths well-suited to serve city

This summer, a friend who knows my commitment to excellence, service to others and that I'm "mostly retired" asked me to consider running for City Council. I followed my discernment process: Examine the task, identify my strengths and challenges, and consult with others. I heard the following: "It's a lot of time and a lot of work, if you're willing to do this you will be good." Most importantly, my bride of 42 years agreed we could serve well. With limited familial and career demands, I have an opportunity to serve Ward 1 and Broomfield.

Marge and I have been blessed to live in Broomfield since 1991, after I took a position at Nativity of Our Lord Church as director of adult education and youth ministry. We raised our four children (Lori, Megan, Julie and Matthew who continue to thrive and have blessed us with five grandchildren) and we will continue to help keep Broomfield a great place.
