Dak Prescott has been turning heads with each and every game he plays in the last four to five seasons, and he seems to have just started his career. While injuries had sidelined him for some time, he still managed to come within the top-five in almost every category a quarterback can be in. Not to forget, the NFL and franchise records that he broke till date. Here are some really interesting facts about the Cowboys’ quarterback that will make fans go crazy for him:
- During the 2016 season, he finished his rookie regular season with a record 11 games with an over 100 NFL passer rating, breaking Russell Wilson’s rookie record of nine games set in the year 2012.
- In the Week 4 game against Cleveland Browns in the 2020 season, he finished with 502 passing yards, becoming the first player in the history of NFL to have passed for at least 450 yards in three consecutive games.
- The Cowboys placed the franchise tag on Prescott worth $31.4 million for the 2020 season, on March 16, 2020. He signed the tender on June 22, 2020.
- On March 9, 2021, the Cowboys placed the exclusive franchise tag on Dak for the second consecutive season – 2021 season, following which a four-year contract extension was signed.
- Prescott signed a four-year contract extension worth $160 million, out of which $126 million was guaranteed, with the Cowboys on March 10, 2021. This deal comprised a $66 million signing bonus, which is the highest signing bonus in the history of NFL, as of writing.
- Rayne Dakota Prescott was born on July 29, 1993 to Nathaniel Prescott and Peggy Prescott in Sulphur, Louisiana. He is the youngest son of the couple, and has three siblings and one half brother.
- He has two elder brothers – Tad Prescott and Jace Prescott, one elder sister – Natalie Prescott-Smith, and an elder half-brother Elliott Prescott, from his father’s previous marriage.
- His parents got divorced when he was in his childhood, following which his mother raised them all as a single mother. During that time, Peggy used to work as a manager of a truck shop.
- His mother Peggy died on November 3, 2013, after a long battle with colon cancer. Dak was in college at Mississippi State at that time, and his brother Jace was the one who took care of their mother.
- In honor of his mother, Prescott established The Faith Fight Finish Foundation, which focuses on helping people deal with adversity. The foundation offers assistance to people fighting cabncer and other life-challenging hardships.
- His elder brother Jace Prescott, was on offensive lineman at Northwestern State. He committed suicide at the age of 31. Dak claimed that his mother’s death took a heavy toll on his brother and he didn’t know how to share it.
- His father was arrested for possession of marijuana while he was driving on Highway 87 in Orange County, in August 2018. He was only released after posting a $500 bond to custody.
- It has been reported that the police discovered less than two grams of marijuana in the driver side door of the Cadillac Escalade he was driving. Nathaniel was actually charged a Class B misdemeanor.
- Dak attended the Haughton High School in Haughton, Louisiana, where he played football for the Buccaneers. He led Haughton become the 2010 District 1-AAAA Champions, with 159-of-258 passes for 2860 yards and 39 touchdowns.
- In the year 2012, he was redshirted as a true freshman with Mississippi State. The next year, he played in 12 games as a backup to Tyler Russell, and completed 18 of 29 passes for 194 yards with four touchdowns.
- While was again intended to start the 2013 season as the backup of Russell, he had to take over as the starter, when Russell suffered a concussion.
- After leading the Bulldogs to a 44–7 win over the Rice Owls, Dak Prescott was named as the MVP of the 2013 Liberty Bowl. He was also named to the 2013 SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll.
- He became the subject of widespread criticism for hosting a gathering during the COVID-19 pandemic in April 2020, although the state of Texas was observing social distancing.
- However, Prescott made it clear in his statement to the press that the gathering was with fewer than 10 people and that he understood his responsibility and that every COVID-19 precautions was taken.
- During the 2014 season, his first season as a full-time starter, he led the Bulldogs to a 10–2 regular season record, its first #1 ranking in program history, and led them to the Orange Bowl.

- In the 2019 season-opener 35-17 victory against New York Giants, he threw 25 times for 405 yards, and four touchdowns, which gave him a perfect passer rating.
- With this performance, Dak Prescott became the first Dallas quarterback to achieve such a feat since Craig Morton who achieved it on October 5, 1969.
- Dak is currently in a relationship with Natalie Buffett, an Instagram model and social media influencer. However, there is no other information about their relationship.
- He was awarded the 2017 NCAA Todays’s Top 10 Award and was named the finalist for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award and the Davey O’Brien Award.

- In the 2016 rookie season, he was named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, and was ranked 14th by his peers on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2017. He was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team, becoming the second Cowboys quarterback to receive this award, joining Troy Aikman in 1989.
- During the Week 2 game against Atlanta Falcons in the 2020 season, he became the first player in NFL history to pass for at least 400 yards and rush for three touchdowns in the same game.
