This game is a matter of how you want to look at things. If you wave pom-poms on Sundays, Tom Brady undressed the vaunted Rex Ryan defense, leading the team to 40 points and 507 yards in a victory that will propel the Patriots to a 19-0 season and a Boylston Street coronation.
If you’re dispassionate or tend to fret, there’s another point of view: Tyrod Taylor put up 32 on the vaunted Bill Belichick defense, including 19 in a frantic fourth quarter that nearly cost the Pats the game. With a minute to play, they needed Taylor to throw into triple coverage rather than to a wide-open LeSean McCoy, the only man between him and a 30-yard gain being Tavon Wilson. I like McCoy’s chances in that matchup, but Taylor, blind to the situation, made the wrong decision.
