To promote sand sculpting in Taiwan, the Fulong International Sand Sculpture Festival was launched in 2008 so that domestic sand sculptors can show their works more formally and exchange ideas with their international counterparts. The festival, now in its sixth year, attracts more visitors each year. From 600,000 in 2008, 800,000 in 2009, 100,000 in 2010, 350,000 in 2011, to 260,000 in 2012, the festival continues to expand its scale and introduce more creativity to the island public.
