She is survived by a nephew, James I. Hickman of Scotland, Ark.; a niece, Judith Gates of Michigan; three great-nephews, James Luther Hickman and James Seth Hickman of Conway and Bryan Matthew Smith of Battle Creek, Michigan; and a great-niece, Karlee Michelle Smith of Battle Creek. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Thomas Hamilton Chambers, in 2012 and her parents, John James and Sarah Emerson Hickman.
Full TextMargaret H. Chambers, 94, of Hamburg died Monday, June 15, 2015, at the Ashley County Medical Center in Crossett. A native of and former resident of Conway, she had lived in Hamburg since 1949 and had also lived in Lake Village. She graduated from Conway High School and attended the Arkansas State Teachers College, now the University of Central Arkansas. She had served as the memorial chairman for the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association for northern Ashley County since 1961 and served as chairman for the Arkansas Crippled Children, American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society. The director of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce for 19 years and a member of the Prairie Country Club and the Women's Golf Association, she was a member of the Hamburg First Baptist Church where she was in the Esther Sunday School Class and taught in the junior department. She was an avid reader and she loved her Bridge clubs.
