Storm spares Yucca but hits Joshua Tree hard

MORONGO BASIN — Thunderstorms were dropping bolts of lightning throughout the Basin and buckets of water in Joshua Tree Thursday afternoon.

The area south of Twentynine Palms Highway in Joshua Tree suffered from some spurts of flash flooding that inundated roadways, while north of the highway thunderclouds dumped a torrential downpour that had residents worried.
