Ostia Antica is a large archaeological site, close to the modern suburb of Ostia (Rome), that was the location of the harbor city of ancient Rome, which is approximately 19 miles to the northeast. "Ostia" in Latin means "mouth". Wandering around the ruins today, you’ll see the remains of the docks, warehouses, apartment flats, mansions, shopping arcades, and baths — all giving a peek at Roman lifestyles.
