California air regulators likely to re-adopt fuel standard to fight climate change - Los Angeles Times

California air quality officials are expected Friday to update a key initiative to fight climate change by reducing carbon pollution from gasoline and diesel fuel over the next five years.

The move by the state Air Resources Board is one indication of how California will use existing regulations, rather than new laws, to continue its climate change efforts after Gov. Jerry Brown and Democratic lawmakers this month were forced to drop legislative proposals to cut petroleum use and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
