WASHINGTON -- It was bad enough for the Cincinnati Reds to have to break up a seven-game homestead and fly to Washington for a statistically meaningless makeup game.
The end result, a 4-1 loss Monday at Nationals Park in front of 24,420, the Reds’ ninth loss in a row and a near no-hitter from Nationals’ ace Max Scherzer, made the trip sting a little worse.
