George Smith: True love ... Tommy ‘n Bonnie

Back on Sept. 21, former JSU assistant coach Tommy Simmons died. Simmons was an assistant coach (1974-75) under the late Clarkie Mayfield, JSU’s head coach.

The rest of the story is Tommy and Clarkie were teammates on Kentucky’s “Thin Thirty” under Charley Bradshaw in 1962. Tommy was a team captain.
