KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — Tony Stewart grinned, winked, cracked wise and showed flashes of his old self during a 53-minute news conference Wednesday.

It's a good thing Stewart's retirement announcement isn't effective until after 2016. The man they call Smoke might be getting back to his true personality just in time to give himself and his fans one more fun year.
