Rosetta captures first glimpse of comet 67P's dark side - The Space Reporter

The Rosetta space probe is focusing in on Comet 67P’s southern polar regions as they receive more sunlight.

According to Astronomy Magazine, the south pole area of Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko has been too dark for most of the instruments onboard the European Space Agency’s Rosetta spacecraft to study.  The southern area of the comet faces away from the Sun for most of its orbit, then experiences a short summer a few months before the comet reaches its closest point to the Sun.
